FEELING FLAT

haven't played today or yesterday, night before i lost £60k, playing some very bad poker. holein2 again trashed me on £40/£80 and steve95 took a £20k/£30k off me on £100/£200. it's the worst i've felt for ages. even though it's been a great few weeks i can't but help think of the money i've lost. saturday felt even worse as everton managed to lose 4-2 to utd after being 2-0 up and i lost a singles match in tennis. still very deflated today. i may play some tonight if theres a high enough game, hu ideally.

Ed, can't you see that this turn is due to you? Well overdue some might argue! You can't win like you do indefinately! This is why I keep saying to you to realise how lucky you are and adopt real bankroll managent rules.

You have 50k tucked away - great, keep it there! You have 55k left over as a bankroll. Drop down and 4-table NL£500 running PT and PA HUD. Read, learn, test your game and don't play above your station.

Put in 25h a week of poker and at even just 4bb/100 you'll make in the region of £2000 a week with rakeback. This is sustainable and you'll be able to hammer out the hours and move up the levels in a sustainable manner - as I understand it you have little/no out-goings so you'll have a massive advantage. I'd bet, if you really are a good winning player, that this time next year you'll be playing NL20/40 and fully rolled for it with 75-100x the buy in.

Most of all you'll have days with 10 buy in down swings and it'll hardly matter as you'll have £50k+ in the bank and it's only 10% or less of your bankroll.

£2k a week? Thats peanuts (to Ed). He doesnt care about £2k. He has tasted the high stakes and will prob never look back.

UL with that session Ed, its interesting to hear your attitude towards it as previously you havent seemed to care about loosing large amounts.

GL soldering on.

Bankroll Management, withdraw some funds, play within your limits, drop down, yada yada yada - no disrespect kenny a lot of sound advice there but nothing that hasnt been posted a zillion times before.

As sinkrox says Ed loves the high stakes and Im sure he thinks that the next best thing to playing as high as he can is not playing at all. Good luck to him !

Ed, at the risk of sounding like so many people who've posted before:

I turned 'pro' last year, and although I don't profess to having played as high as you do, I played high enough to make a good living, but ended up doing my brains in on the wheel. I loved the rush of gambling, why mess about playing £20 or £50 rebuy tourneys that lasted hours, when I could have £200 spins that were over in seconds? I could win more in 2 spins than winning the tourney or having a good night on the cash.

Please do something sensible. Buy a house, rent it out if you want, it'll make you a few ton a month. If you live there then it's always a fallback plan if/when you need it.

You're a 20 year old lad with £100k. Enjoy it, go to Vegas and spend it on whores, travel round the world, just do someting that will make you think 'at least I did this', even if you do lose it all (and I really hope you don't).

I know, I know.

But if ed doesn't take that sort of advice and all the other good advice offered to him then he has to accept that one day he's going to be broke again and that he's unlikely to have a future in poker.

Yes £2k might not be a lot to ed but its better than flipping burgers which is where he's heading eventually. He can't sustain these wins: He's playing well beyond his bankroll against some of the best online players in the world and we've seen numerous examples of him getting the money in as a dog. It can't/won't last :(

I love ed's blog and his attitude and what he's managed to do several times now. However, it is also very frustraiting to every grinder out there to watch him throwing away such opportunity.

People keep going on about 50K that he has tucked away, but the way I read the blog is that he planned to tuck 50K away but then he did it and doesn;t have any backup... just his roll (read total net worth)

Scouse, you are a destructive gambler and should definately get some help. Again, advice that has been given before and not been heeded. I don't know you so don't really care.

But if you are going to make a future in poker, you have to do two things;

1. Bankroll management yada yada
2. Get good at poker

I have yet to read a hand you have posted that I thought you played really well, people seem to just love you cos you're a sicko. And indeed, thats why I read your blog, I would love to be able to sit down at a table with you because I along with many other players would crucify you, and I'm sure that is the attitude of most of the players you play against at those levels.

Whatever happens, I don't hope you just keep getting lucky and winning, I hope you get good, become a professional and keep winning. Of course this is <0.5% to happen. But everyone who reads your blog can only hope.

Good luck, you will need it.

hag, you might know more than me about this guy cos i aint really seen him play much, but if he's able to make so much money on more than one occasion he must be a pretty good player, i assumed he just put the hands he lucked out on in so people underestimate him completely and to protect the way he playes

I agree with your_hard07.

I also like romancandles comments about cashing out a bunch and go and do something shit hot with it. Go on a bender in Vegas. A trip to New Zealand. Whatever tickles your fancy. You'd only need $3-5k for it.

thats probably why he will be busto again by May 28th. Cos he plays so good.

And why the high stakes players fill up at a table when he joins and then the tables frequently break after he leaves.

Scouse, can you comment on the 50K, did you tuck it away or did you end up doing it?

the hag... great reading skills..

he has alot more than 50k outside of his bankroll he has been putting aside 25% of his winnings each day.

That means he probs has about £80k + his £55k bankroll.

So, I think he's doing pretty good and he should just keep doing what he's doing. Who wants to be a grinder all their life?

Bluescouse, go undercover, start up some new accounts, don't tell anyone your new player names, not even your best mate. (Lose those Sharks).

Follow BRM advice. Just think how you're going to feel if you lose the whole lot.

Ed,

Don't listen to the haters.

The Hag is obviously just trynig to delude himself that hes better than you, when his blog is the litany of 'bad beats' experienced by all tight, unskilled, players, and only likley to be read by someone that was here first.

One losing session means nothing, just don't lose your confidence. Try playing other games for a while, why not get some money in fulltilt and take the yanks to school if your tired of the same faces at crypto.

The nobody is right...hag your blog is just a litany of bad beats or patting yourself on the back. I don't think anyone understands how Ed wins...it is through a reckless disregard for money. You can't change that and if you did he wouldn't have big wins. I do believe that he has a serious gambling problems but who cares if he loses his roll. Just as long as he spends money as he goes along, enjoying life and picking up a few things along the way.

I have never seen Ed play but he has to be a good player. In March he had less than $200....that is sick.

Ed, Everyone throws bits of advice at you and nothing is ever done. I think it is time for you to go travel...play some live tournaments....play some cash live....stop sports betting because that is the downfall of many a good poker player

i agree i deserved to lose that session, i played pretty shit. worst i've tilted for awhile and since i wasn't hu for most of the time it was a disaster. i'm prepared to risk my roll to play where im happiest. dropping down beneath £10/£20 is not option right now. if i go broke it's a case of nm =( and rebuild.

true that i don't always put all the hands into my blog. it's mostly to protect my play rather than giving a certain image.

yeah i've got £50k saved plus 25% of winning days, £80k total is about right.

yeah i'm an evertonian, i think thats a good thing =), not sure about tallin, tennis season starting now need to put the hours in. ty for offer. gl in that

Indeed seems my reading skills aren't good.

Good for you Ed that you've got 80K saved. Nice to hear you are making a change.

To the comments about my blog from the nobody and TX, my blog simply maps my results and thought processes, and tries to be entertaining at times. If you think I'm a tight unskilled player then thats up to you. The reason my blog contains a lot of beats is because thats what happens to players who don't get their money in behind very often. If you had cared to read it all you will see there are times where I note when I got lucky - played badly etc. It just doesn't happen as often as other players. Simple as that.

I don't rail Ed's games and am just commenting on the hands he posts, but when he seems to get in a big pot, he is frequently behind, such as the A6 clubs hand.

And if anyone thinks that hand was played well then again, thats up to them, but pretty clearly it wasn't.

But to reiterate my point. Ed, its nice to see you are getting some savings together and keeping it separate from your roll. Congrats.
