DROPPING DOWN
lost another $6000 at $25/$50 today. one stupid mistake where i raised his bet on the river when he held the nuts for a $15k pot and another where i was all in preflop for a $4300ish pot with k6o v 88. tomorrow i will be playing $10/$20 and £5/£10 since i'm dropping so much money.

Ed how are gettting it all in preflop
with K-6? The guy with the 8-8 probably reads your blog and knew he was likely to be well ahead given your range.
Please consider switching poker sites.
Ed - did you see the 100-200 game on Betfair today. Damn. Very juicy!! Nori was spraying money everywhere...you gotta build up the roll and play in this game.
Thanks Ed. Blog interesting again.
hope this doesnt turn out like brandi!
if your gonna raise the river on a bluff you better make sure your reads are spot on.
Try not making big bluffs for a few days and see how you fare. GL
"hope this doesnt turn out like brandi!"
I very much doubt that sex with David Sklansky is on Ed's agenda.
Richard you are just assuming he raised the river on a bluff. He had a set of aces against the nut straight.
Ed,
maybe hurry up and sell the house and get your bankroll back up to a comfortable level.
You don't want to sit around with a falling bankroll and have to drop limits, all the doomsdayers will come back like viruses in winter and start counselling you again and you'll be stuck coughing and sneezing and not able to move on your couch without any money or stories to fight back with.
Get some more money and start playing that juicy $100/$200 game above.

You might find help at bankroll management at: http://within1000days.com!
Ed is a freaking idiot. The guy has zero common sense and very low intelligence.
Why does he even write this blog? It is because he is an attention whore. The loves the attention he gets and he has never followed any of the advice countless of people has given him here. He never writes a response. All his hands are stupid crap like I went all in after the 7th reraise preflop and got called by AA, the end result being him losing a huge pot or winning a huge one by sucking out. This is like the high school kid who is willing to do stupid shit for the sake of being cool and being accepted by his peers.
He just loves to keep posting crazy stories that makes him look like this cool, wild and ballsy poker player when in reality he is just a pathetic, immature gambling addict. There is nothing glamorous about what he does, there's nothing exciting about winning 20k-40k pots when deep inside he knows he will lose it all eventually.
He has a lot of growing up to do to start thinking and acting like a mature, rational, intelligent human being instead of a impulsive Neanderthal with no self control. With his pathetic decision making, i doubt he will ever succeed in anything in life.
rocket
no offense dude but like start winning come on man. K6?
Go back to doing what made you great in the first place. You have done it before.
Best of luck.
I'm beginning to suspect this entire blog is a work of fiction, or at least partial fiction.
How is it that stupidity at such high stakes can be sustained. Ok, so a long long time ago, Ed won big, but the that was obviously a deviation from the norm.
"Dropping down" has more than one meaning. One wonders how this donkey has escaped hitting rock bottom in the dark, pathetic well of compulsive gambling.
A few months ago I may have paid 7 dollars for this novel, but now I'll just wait for it to hit the 99 cent bargain bin.
w.stranger you are an idiot of the highest order. I, and a great many other people can testify to the fact that we have watched Ed play, and witnessed first hand many many many of the hands described at the point that they happened. I can tell you now its not unusual to see Ed re-raise somebody all in with about 7 high on the river for thousands of dollars. Ive seen it.
Nobody is forcing you to read the blog so take your scepticism and bugger off.
Good luck man, you'll need it ^_^
lol "lost one buyin today at 25 50 so im gonna drop down to 10 20 so i dont have anymore 6k loses" good god man STUDY THE GAME playing alot is only gona get you so far......... nvm its working great for you keep it up
GL ED... hope u get it turned around soon.

Enjoy watching you on BETFAIR Ed. Best of luck in the coming days. Dont listen to the critics. Those that have never failed have never stretched themselves. Respect to you for getting back to the tarbs.
james, you said:
"I can tell you now its not unusual to see Ed re-raise somebody all in with about 7 high on the river for thousands of dollars. Ive seen it."
And you're calling ME an idiot of the highest order! Hahaha.
You all share the same pathetic compulsive gambling death wish.
But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Just glancing back at Ed's recent posts. Here's a line from each of the last five consecutive postings:
"lost another $6000 at $25/$50 today. ..one stupid mistake"
"another unsuccessful day"
"i lost £4k thursday night"
"lost my entire betfair roll of £8100"
"i lost both and lost another $k or so on $10/$20 there"
and it doesn't get much better the further back in the recent archives you go.
One thing can't be denied. Ed is consistent in his losses.
Another thing is certain. This string of bad days is not the result of math variance, but bad, compulsive play.
The only thing separating Ed from the majority of poker donkeys is his seemingly endless supply of cash. Trust fund baby? Loan sharks? Criminal activity? Who knows, but there's now way any of the top pros could play this badly and be in the game this long without some very charitable financial backers.
Time to donate your $$ to charity instead of losing them on the tables?
w stranger. Ed doesn't play that much, If he played everyday for hours like other "pros" this story would have been over a long time ago.
W Stranger - you've just quoted all the days Ed loses and ignored the ones he won. You say it doesn't get much better if you go back further, well just from April you could have picked out:
between the two sites i finished up £1600.
didn't play saturday but won £2200 sunday night and £5k tonight.
£50 more added to the roll
yesterday i won £2100
i've still managed to get my roll to £15,300
During April he won about £9k at $10/$20 and £5/£10 and then lost it back in some higher stakes shots at mainly $25/$50 and £25/£50, ending down a couple of thousand but up in big blinds, no disaster at these stakes.
I'm not sure what you're basing your opinion that Ed's playing so terribly on but if it's just a few hands he posts on his blog then it's pretty stupid, the K6 hand he reraised a button raiser and a caller in the SB in the BB, the button folded but the SB shoved and he was forced to call getting ~ 3 to 1. It wasn't the worst play in the world but I won't bother to explain to you why since you seem to have very little understanding of poker. The other hand where he lost a $15k pot he had the second nuts v the nuts and all but the worst weak tight players would have been stacked there too.
I can assure you that he is no way near as bad as you are suggesting. His biggest weakness by far is bankroll management.
You seem confused about his "endless supply of money". Perhaps you should remember that Ed built up a £240k roll last year and did not lose it all back, he bought a house with a large amount of his winnings and is still up substantially from poker - the money is just invested in a house. Not bad for someone who is "consistent in his losses".
Trust fund baby? Loan sharks? Criminal activity? I think you will find it's actually from poker.
Link Swap?
GL Ed
Cam,
Granted, my opinion is not based on a complete statistical analysis of his postings over the past year. But I think if you did such an analysis, you may well find that he consistently loses more than he consistently wins. The math here is a bit deceiving because of his huge wins at high stakes during a relatively short period of time last year. He's been unable to repeat that. Sometimes in poker, even mediocre or bad players hit the jackpot. He seems to have been bleeding away his mortgage slowly but surely - at lower stakes - ever since.
I do know poker and gambling, and I can spot a compulsive gambler from a mile away. You admit Ed lack bankroll management skills. This is a very kind, polite way of saying he lacks control over his habit.
He said a few months ago he was borrowing cash from someone, but it was all very vague.
Ed would be torn to shreds if he walked into the Bellagio and played in the big game every day with the regulars. A minuscule minority of pro poker players have all the necessary traits to sustain the lifestyle. Good, sound knowledge of the game actually ends up being far less important than the Zen-like discipline needed, which Ed so obviously lacks.
I feel sorry for the guy. This blog may be his worst enemy because it has given him a degree of celebrity status, making it hard for him to let go. The only difference between to millions of poker losers and Ed is the fact those other millions haven't laid out their lives for public consumption. The many people here who repeatedly chirp their "gl Ed, you can do it" encouragements from the poker peanut gallery are mostly voyeuristic in nature, or they are chirped by fellow compulsive gamblers who are living vicariously through Ed.
Ed represents different things for different onlookers. For me, he's just another addicted gambler who has been playing way over his head. A big win and house purchase gave him a false sense of ability, and now we are seeing the slow, but sure descent toward rock bottom.
His entire roll, house will be gone by this time next year.
Unlucky mucker, sure it will turn around. Can you please look at my blog anyone when u got chancE? thnaks
Masterbaker
I don't really believe the whole notion of someone being a "good" player who lacks bankroll management.
Thats probably the #1 attribute of a decent poker player. Even someone average to slightly below average in terms of "poker talent" will do well if they keep a calm head and have decent bankroll management.
No doubt about it, in my mind, its the absolute biggest thing, and those who cant manage their bankroll actually SUCK at poker. PERIOD.
Just do it Ed, you know you can!
Stranger, he didn't just have big winning periods last year, he also built up a huge roll in 2006. I don't think you're right at all about his wins being deceiving due to being at high stakes though.
If you look back to June 2007 he won about $200k playing $50/$100 and lower, $72k at $100/$200 and then at the start of July won $70k at $250/$500 but then lost about $128k back playing £100/£200 and $250/$500. In January he lost another $100k + in two days at $250/$500.
In November 2006 he lost $180k at $250/$500 just after these tables opened. Overall he must be down several hundred thousand at £100/£200 and higher but a big winner below that.
Very few have the bankroll and skill to win in Bobby's room and you certainly don't have to do that to make a lot of money from poker.
Gniz, if someone's poker talent is below average then they will struggle to even win whatever their bankroll management is unless they are playing extremely weak players.

most interesting thing about this blog atm are the comments of stranger and cam. good to read some civilised conversation.
i agree though that the encouraging comments that Ed gets here strike me as voyeuristic. telling the bloke to sell his house and go double or nothing stinks of addicts getting a high off someone elses fix.
i hope the lack of posts in the last week is not what we all fear it could be - busto.
Christ it has been a long time since a post.
I checked Crypto last night and no sign of ED, and didn't he already say he lost his roll on Betunfair?
No post recently... probably stuck his head in the oven, thats kinda where hes been headin ever sinse he had the fabulous idea of getting a mortgage lol. Makes me laugh how people egg him on to play at the highest tables. These people either love watching him lose or their the people who win all his money from him, its great reading though.
I don't mind being a voyeur, seriously, Ed writes this blog for others to read and watch him, and I think he likes being watched and encouraged.
If Ed is a compulsive gambler, then it's up to him to realise that, not anyone else. It seems to me that posters here seem to think they can force step 1 on him and berate him if he doesn't take their point of view.
In actual fact you would have to be a nutcase if you think Ed is going to think he's at rock bottom. He's up a house, not down 3 and committed a fraud like most of the compulsive gamblers before they seek help.
I would be more a friend to Ed than any clowns here trying to force him to take on step 1. If Ed falls I'll share it with him and say "we #$#ed up" and not "you stuffed up you retard why didn't you listen to me blah blah blah". Ed wants to live his life and this is what he wants to do, and I want him to win thank you very much.
Go Ed go. Sell the house and play some juicy games.
If Ed falls I'll share it with him and say "we #$#ed up"
WTF? What's this "we" business?
Come back Ed i'm sure theres someone out there to lend you some money.
Cam,
"£50 more added to the roll"
Get in there....!
nah dude ... just give up. you keep doing the same shit over and over, so why bother?
Even you must be getting bored of it at this stage.
it seems like he's busto again.
the course of time...
haha - "I would be more a friend to Ed than any clowns here trying to force him to take on step 1."
Ed has his very own creepy stalker.
