VERY FRUSTRATING

£5800 up on crypto, but lost my entire betfair roll of £8100 in minimum buyins on $25/$50. played some poor hands but not sure how i lost so much. i'm only £2300 down for the day but a £8100 downswing is very big for my bankroll (£17,300).

Hey Ed, don't play on Betfair! The player pool is too small and everyone knows you.

As well as iPoker, why don't you give Gutshot a try? It's on the Microgaming network. If you email barry@gutshot.com he'll sort you out a good rakeback deal...

ed, there's a lesson, you are not ready to move up from 10/20 yet. stay where you are for a while.

Don't be greedy and move up so soon! What is the big rush to make ££££££££?

Try Sky Poker. The limits aren't as high as your used to, highest games that run are 2/4 and some 2.50/5.

But it is a UK based site, new players, most are 6max tables and the action is VERY VERY loose. Cash outs only take a day too.

Also without the higher limits on there you won't be as tempted to keep going up.

Seriously give it a go. SKY POKER is so loose full of bad players.

Hello Ed,

This is my first time posting, but I read your blog. At first I thought this was a "joke" but I can't believe you actually go through these massive swings.

I'm not sure if you consider yourself a proffessional or a degenerate gambler.

You seem to hit the felt and rebuild so many times. If you would set limits and play within your bankroll you'd do very well.

You just never know when to back down. Winning or losing, you always stay too long and end up leaving down or winning, but not as much as your max profit on the day.

I'm not sure what your marital status is, but maybe a girlfriend would be able to help you with your game and time management.

I have followed this blog as many others have done for months yet as yet I cannot ever recall Ed ever replying with what HE wants from all this. Until he does then all the advice and other comments mean nothing until HE defines what he wants. I personally think he doesnt even know himself and will continue to push and push until the inevitable happens which in all honesty is such a shame.
WHAT DO YOU WANT ED?

Ed, come on man.
I thought you made rules for yourself.
Rules that stated you wouldn't have more than 2 of your crazy min buyin shots at $25/$50.

Ed there's serious sharks there who recall every single hand you've played with them.

As others have pointed out try the otehr networks. ipoker, microgaming, stars, Full tilt.

Or even Sky Poker.

"I cannot ever recall Ed ever replying with what HE wants from all this."

Well back in October 2006 it was this:

"in terms of targets i would like to have £250k at the end of the year. perhaps that is overly ambitious, £150k more in 2.5 months but i want to keep making progress and get a solid bankroll. with regards to playing higher stakes that probably won't happen in the next couple of months. i've watched $200/$400 (heads up) at prima for awhile and would love to try that but i'm scared as hell of being seriously outplayed."

And then 2007 targets posted in Jan 2007:

"online i would like to make £500k. i think if i am at my peak earnings at the end of the year though or 20% off it (of peak) i would be very happy. £150k-£200k by june and then good second half of the year.

i'd like to make a final table in a big live event (£2000+ buy in) or win any live event with buy in £150 or more.

my reputation is in the bin atm. not that it was really ever out of it, but i'd like to be recognised as one of crypto's or betfair's top 5 regular players come the end of the year.

have slightly better bankroll management (not too much though). consider a stop loss.

concentrate more when i'm playing. way too often i come off playing thinking that i haven't played my best which is really stupid.

always be nice at the tables (as well as off the tables)

still be blogging at the end of the year of course!

when i get to £250k i fully intend to buy a house. i really hope i can do that. i've realised now that there is no amount of money that i will never go broke from, unless something dramatically changes my life or i tighten up on a permanent basis (these two things are probably likely to happen together rather than individually)."

Fair comments Revio and I have full admiration for how Ed spun up to a huge sum and invest in his property with his roll but then it seems his hunger cannot now be satisfied with what most others would be delighted with and at most times he seems intent on totally ignoring the concerned advice alot of readers try to give him. He obviously has a total different outlook to things and I only can wish him the best of luck.

BUST
lost the £300 rakeback plus a few hundred more that i'd withdrawn before going broke. don't expect any more posts for a few days.

Good luck Ed
